Slender Man
Slender the Eight Pages, Slender the Arrival, Marble Hornets, Something Awful

Evil: Kills children (in urban legends), kills people who are in his forest
Insanity: Stalks people until they kill themselves or he kills them
Powers: Teleportation, can cause insanity, tentacles, can lure children to their deaths (legends), kills children who go outside unless they run back and tell their parents (Germanic legend), stretchy, can give his future victims 'slender sickness' which causes extreme paranoia into believing that he'll go after them next - which ends up true (legends), and immortality?
Occupation: Stalker

Description: To be fair, it is strongly believed by some people that the Slender Man is real and seems to have an influence over several continents. There was a Brazilian cave drawing dating back so far as 9000 B.C. that had an image resembling the Slender Man, having a black, faceless body with tentacles. In Egypt there are hieroglyphics that depict a thief encountering a strange entity with multiple limbs on its upper body. A story was once written by a German woodcutter about a knight, who  had several extra hands coming out of his back. A German legend about an entity called Der Großmann, or Tall Man in English, and according to this legend an evil entity lurked the Black Forest, a large forest that lies in Germany near the Rhine valley who relentlessly chased children. The following is an excerpt from a Romanian fairytale about the Tall Man, with descriptions similar to those of the Slender Man
"The tall man stood in a clearing, dressed as a nobleman, all in black. Shadows lay over him, dark as a cloudy midnight. He had many arms, all long and boneless as snakes, all sharp as swords, and they writhed like worms on nails. He did not speak, but made his intentions known,"
In the fairytale, the Tall Man causes a mother to kill her husband and child, before he slid from a fireplace and "clenched her in his burning embrace." In England he is called the Tree Man.

In Slender the Eight Pages by Parsec Productions (Agent Parsec), it gives you one simple objective, find the eight pages, simplicity itself - that is until you find out that you are being chased without even knowing where to look. When I found out about the Eight Pages, Amnesia was out and personally I think that the Slender Man is WAY scarier than the Gatherers, after all the Slender Man can teleport right in front of at any given moment. If you managed to beat the Eight Pages, either you got skills,  or you got incredibly lucky because after page 6, it is almost guaranteed that he'll be directly behind you. Many people have tried to beat the game, several failed. Here is a piece of advice that applies to both the Eight Pages, and Slender the Arrival level 2 and 6 (6 is just a remake of the Eight Pages with very familiar landmarks), and that piece of advice is to go into the buildings first, you DO NOT want Slender Man to start chasing you while you are searching a building for a page - searching a building later normally leads to death and you do not want that. Another piece of advice is DO NOT LOOK BEHIND YOU. Despite he can warp in front of you, in later stages, looking back can definitely either result in death or increase of intensity in his pursuit. If Slender Man is on your tail in the Eight Pages before you go into the bathroom, you ought to be scared cause he can easily trap you as easily as he can see you. If by some miracle that you do get all 8 pages, all gets quiet, the eerie SFX cease and then in your moment of triumph, he teleports directly in front of you and kills you instantly. (Also note that either if you do not find a page every four minutes he will one hit kill you anyway, or if you haven't seen him in a while, expect him to kill you shortly). YouTube Whiteboy7thst and Pewdiepie have played this game and were very scared in every video that they made, Whiteboy normally cried at the end of his videos.

Examples of the pages found in the Eight Pages and the Arrival

In Slender the Arrival by Blue Isle Studios and Parsec Productions, you are once again chased by the Slender Man but this time with a story and good graphics. Unlike the original, you can set the difficulty (??? mode is Hardcore mode and is not for the faint of heart). In third level on top of the Slender Man chasing you, now you have to deal with his minion, the Proxy (Kate) who flat out chases you through the entirety of the level. In level 4 you find out how the Proxy came to be, Slender got to her and drove her insane beyond hope. In level 5 the Proxy, or his or her relative, (most likely) set Slender Mans forest ablaze, pissing him off big time. It is hard to see him amongst the flames as his tentacles are always present, giving the appearance of a burning tree, made worse by the fact that he will warp in front of you in very short intervals. At the very end of the level, it is unknown as to what happens to your character, but it can be assumed that she is killed by either the Man or by the Proxy. I'm sure that if the Slender Man wasn't around the property value would probably be at a pretty good value, a house surrounded by a beautiful forest. Now the Slender Man is not so much as scary as he is creepy, only being scary when he pops up out of no where. The creepy part is that he is a real tall guy, with no face, a business suit, and just watches you from a distance.

In Minecraft there are two entities that have powers similar to the Slender Man, the Ender Man is exactly like Slender Man however, the other entity is the fabled Herobrine - a character who is said to exist but at the same time doesn't. We will come back to Herobrine one day but not in this post. The Ender Men teleport all over the place and will try and confuse you in battle, but like Slender Man they watch their surroundings peacefully until provoked - which is also unlike the Slender Man since he is always hostile. When you kill an Ender Man, they sometimes drop an Ender Pearl, which can be used to make Eyes of Ender which can get you into the End. The Ender Men are the loyal servants and bodyguards of the Ender Dragon, the last boss of Minecraft (the other boss is Wither but he is optional).

Here is a poem that was once written about the Slender Man, by some guy that I can't remember

Oh, should I travel through the woods
Or should I not wishing I would
For above me lurks within the trees
No one could hear my deathly screams
The palest man, the blackest suit
Bigger than the tallest brute
Six black arms will grab you up
Or, stalk you till you just give up
A top hat sits upon his head
Makes your soul fill up with dread
He takes you when you least expect
Boil you up, and eat your neck
He’ll leave your body not to eat
But staple your corpse on a tree
Fear the man, the slender man
For he can do, what no one can

Now a lot of people criticize Slender Man for being faceless and for being rather ridiculous, but he scared the shit out of a hell of a lot of people, enough to get The Arrival made into a full fledged game. Anyway here are a few videos about Slender Man

If you like this video be sure to check out the rest of his playthrough
